Infrastructure Repairs and Improvements
• The Pasadena High School parking lot under HWY 225 was resurfaced and repaired in a collaborative effort with TX DOT, City of Pasadena, and PISD.
• Marvick, Charles, and E. Hart Roads were repaired, and the hump was removed from W. Harris Street.
• Overlays were applied to Eagle Street, as well as Shaw St. to Pasadena Blvd.
• Serious drainage problems, some existing for 25 years, were corrected on Azalea Court and Palmetto and Pomeroy Streets.
• All 2-inch water lines in District A have been replaced with 6-inch lines.
• Ditches on Mobile and Finfrock were cleaned and made hurricane-ready.
• Harris St. Bridge, including a protective walkway for school children, is under construction by TX DOT and will be completed before June 2009.
• New Shaw Street, curbs, and sidewalks were constructed from Richey St. to Light Company Road.
• New streets, drainage system, curbs, and sidewalks in Beverly Court Subdivision (extreme NW corner of the city) were replaced at a cost of over 1.3 million dollars.
• Added 70 new Pasadena Police Officers
• Over $1,000,000 was spent on construction of the new Fire Station #2.
• Over 10.2 million dollars was allocated for the new Shaver Street Project. Councilman Riggs procured funds for the brick pavers at the four intersections with stoplights: 225, Jackson, Harris, and Southmore.
• The new Kruse Elementary was going to be built with no playground equipment. Councilman Riggs procured $100,000 for a Spark Park playground at the new Kruse Elementary School.
• Memorial Park was completely rebuilt at a cost of over 3.1 million dollars. Councilman Riggs procured the additional funds required to build the covered basketball pavilion and other amenities.
• Scarborough will be repaired, pending completion of County Commissioners’ bidding process, possibly as soon as April 2009. This project will have new sidewalks from Cactus St. to Southmore, on the east side of the road.
• Main Street will be replaced through a joint venture of the City and County upon completion of the Shaver Street Project.
